About Me

Hello! I’m Andrea Harkins (nee Maille), but feel free to call me Andy.

I’m a Senior Front End Engineer && Technical Lead based in Toronto. Since 2019, I’ve worked in both brand and agency settings creating the dreamiest e-commerce experiences. I love the challenges that come with building brands in a digital landscape, and I value how each page view can create meaningful human experiences.

I build technical solutions that are flexible, scalable and performant, and I advocate for ethical practices and more accessible, inclusive environments wherever I go.

When I’m not coding, you can catch me planning my next travel adventure, working on a DIY project or diving into a new book.

A few things about me when I’m off the clock.

  • Graduated with a BA Degree in English Literature & Communication Studies at York University. I will be at any company book club!

  • I am always working on some kind of DIY or craft project. I love building miniatures, gem art and creative journaling.

  • I ran my own Etsy store for 6 years selling stickers and stationery supplies. I love supporting small businesses and always got a recco!

  • I love traveling and learning about different cultures. Some of my fav places I've visited so far have been Japan, the Philippines and Italy.

  • I usually miss the zeitgeist on tv shows or movies so you'll probably hear me raving about your favourite tv show from 10 years ago.

  • I worked at a music school for several years and love seeing live music in my city. If you are emo kid, k-pop fan or post-metal head, we'll definitely be friends.

  4. JavaScript Promises: Beginner’s Guide + Fetching DataJavaScript promises are one of those tricky concepts to get your head around at first.
